The main runway 5/23 was recently extended to 6,000 feet. The Lowcountry Regional Airport just received funding for an ILS, Instrument Landing System and a GPS, which will enable planes to land in all kinds of weather. The ILS, Precision Instrument Landing System also has three GPS approaches. ILS will be installed in 2007, and a new parallel taxi way will be added by 2008.
